Never drink anything while you eat until you read this....

 

Growing up, I would usually drink 2 glasses of water or soda with every large meal.

Then for many years I listened to a lot of the diet dogma that says don’t drink anything with food EVER or else you’ll dilute your stomach acid, your enzymes and your soul itself! But is that true?

What are the most optimal choices for drinking liquids with your solids?

It’s a question that comes up on our path to greater health and our journey to perfect our digestion (and thus improve our immune system, energy levels and utilization of essential nutrients).

I’ve discovered that there is a middle way that works for my body, and according to much science and testimonial, this homemade elixir 4-point formula works for many health-driven people like you too. And it’s the absolutely fun, mood-lifting, digestion-boosting, food-assimilation-enhancing, hydrating, soda-like beverage you may gulp guilt-free with lunch, dinner and snacks.

If you  don’t crave liquid when eating (I usually don’t), you may drink this simple concoction before or after your meal.

If you have sensitive digestion, the following may be crucial to your continued healing. If your digestion is already strong and regular, consider this rocket fuel to go that much farther with your state of health.

Here’s the 4-point formula for a digestion-aiding** elixir imbibed with a meal.

Try to have at least 2 out of 4 of these qualities when creating your elixir (the absolute best ever recipe version of this follows.)

1. Contains some acidity: Not acid-forming, but simply acidic (a.k.a. slightly sour). May contain lemon/lime juice, vitamin C rich berries, natural carbonation which is gently acidic, or lactic acid (in fermented beverages). This makes your drink agreeable to your stomach environment.

2. Contains some unrefined sea salt: Sodium chloride (salt) goes great with hydrochloric acid (stomach acid). Many cases of low stomach acid are related to a salt deficiency or an imbalance of electrolytes which may be corrected with more slightly salty pure water in elixir form.

Never drink anything while you eat until you read this....

3. Contains digestion and assimilation boosting herbs or spices. From ginger to goji berry, there are substances that taste amazing and stimulate healthy digestion and nutrient absorption in your GI tract.

4. Low to no sugar or is fermented. A sugary or fruit drink will tend to create a bad fermentation bloating bomb. Best to consume stevia-sweetened elixirs or probiotic-rich fermented drinks (water kefirs, kombucha, etc. in which the sugar has been converted by the beneficial bacteria into lactic acid and nutrients).

Tonic ‘Roy Rogers’ Cocktail

When I was a kid I would always order a ‘Shirley Temple’ (lemon-lime soda or ginger ale mixed with grenadine syrup) or a ‘Roy Rogers’ (cola mixed with grenadine) when dining out with my folks. I survived the sugar load! However, in appreciation for non-alcoholic cocktail nostalgia, I present to you the most bliss-inducing, digestion and nutrient assimilation enhancing beverage – perfect for you, family, friends, and kids 8 to 108+!

 

Blend on medium for 20 seconds in a blender:

5 cups spring water

1 tablespoon Longevity Power Goji Joy (goji synergizes the efficacy of food and herbs and enhances their assimilation in the digestive system)

1 tablespoon Longevity Power He Shou Wu Extract (mood-elevating, richly mineralizing, extremely high antioxidant cola-like flavor) or LEVITY (bliss-inducing butterscotch flavor)

Juice of 1 organic lime

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/8 teaspoon KAL Stevia Extract powder, or more to taste

OPTIONALS:

Likey the alcohol? Give this drink a few squirts of your favorite tonic herb tincture. 😉

Desire probiotics and fizz? Replace half the spring water with fresh coconut water kefir

For more digestion boosting: 1/4 teaspoon freshly micro-planed organic finer

 

Pour into glasses with a few ice cubes. Serve with a glass or plastic-free straw. Love your food. Love your drink. Love yourself. Happy belly! Cheers!

Bit and beginning to melt!

 

Place in a high-speed blender:

 

1 ½ cups organic pumpkin seeds (soaked and dehydrated rocks!)

1 1/4 cup warm tonic herb tea, gynostemma tea or spring water

½ cup organic walnuts (soaked and dehydrated rocks!) (careful of bulk-bin walnuts as they are notoriously oxidized, moldy or rancid)

4 organic pastured egg yolks or for a vegan option use a couple tablespoons non-gmo soy lecithin and a few dashes of spring water and cold pressed olive oil

1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon organic ghee (my favorite) or cold-pressed organic 100% olive oil or 1/4 cup raw heavy cream

2 teaspoons Longevity Power Maca Bliss or He Shou Wu or Goji Joy or Mushroom Immunity or Longevity in a Bottle

1 teaspoon organic almond butter

 

Blend on high for 1 minute and strain through 3 nut mylk bags (1 bag inside the other to create a 3-layered bag) into a large bowl. Pour back into the blender and then add:

 

2 tablespoons birch xylitol or wholesome sweeteners of choice

1 teaspoon vanilla bean powder

¼ teaspoon stevia extract powder or ½ teaspoon for full sweetness (KAL brand and NOW brand are great tasting)

 

Blend on high for 15 seconds and then pour most into a pitcher leaving 1 cup in blender, then add to blender:

 

¼ cup organic raw cacao powder

1 tablespoon birch xylitol or wholesome sweeteners of choice

¾ teaspoon freshly squeeze organic lemon juice

1/2 – 1 teaspoon Longevity Power LEVITY or more Maca Bliss

 

Blend lightly. Set up your fudgecicle molds and pour the vanilla malt gelato (in pitcher) and chocolate butterscotch gelato (in blender) into the molds simultaneously to create a swirl of light and dark cream. Freeze for several hours. You may also just pour into a bowl and freeze to make gelato, or use a home ice cream maker if you have one. ENJOY!

I stopped eating processed foods with all their side effects at age 18, so all my past obsessions with foods were “as a kid!” Now it’s time to kick-start the holiday season (mine and yours) with kick-butt nutrition that satisfies your stomach’s heart, your nostalgic tastes, and your body’s many nutritional needs for Superfood nutrition.   The Ultimate Holiday Thyme Bread Rolls (Organic, Gluten-Free, No-Bake Raw Superfood Recipe)

Ultimate Holiday Thyme Bread Rolls Recipe

 

Feed through the top of a food processor with the shredder blade (single cut shredder blade, NOT the small holes grater blade), or slice thinly with knife:

 

2-3 medium-large onions, peeled and cut into smaller pieces.

 

Place onion shreds into large bowl.

Blend in a food processor (now with “S” metal blade) into a meal consistency:

3 cups organic sunflower seeds or organic fresh non-rancid walnuts or black walnuts if you can get them. OPTIONAL: Soak, rinse and germinate nuts/seeds ahead of time.

3/4 cup chia seed

1 tablespoon sea salt

1 clove garlic

 

Then add and blend again until dough-like:

 

1/4 cup cold-pressed olive oil and/or organic ghee (so good!)

2 tablespoons fresh thyme or dried cut and sifted thyme

 

Add this batter to the bowl of onion shreds and sprinkle in:

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

2-4 teaspoons spirulina powder

OPTIONAL: Longevity Power Maca Bliss

Mix and mash with your bare clean hands and shape into bread roll shapes of your choice and place on dehydrator trays. Dehydrate 6 hours, then turn rolls over and dehydrate another 4-12 hours. Dehydrate longer if you want crispy rolls, shorter if you want extra moist rolls. Serve warm from the dehydrator. Have the Best Holiday Season Ever!

Twas the nights before any holiday, when your kitchen elf self rocked it,

Making Raw Superfood Cookies, covered in chocolate.

Raw Chocolate-Striped Superfood Santa Cookies Recipe (Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Sugar-Free, No-Bake)

Happy Holidays (already!) to all, and to all a healthy Santa Claus cookie! Your Thanksgiving guests and St. Nick will really be flying’ after they take a few bites out of these easy-to-make Superfoodized low-glycemic raw chocolate-striped cookies.

 

Blend in a food processor until sticky and mealy but not liquid buttery:

 

2 cups Organic Brazil nuts – but seriously, this recipe works with any oily nut you desire (walnuts, cashews, macadamia, pecans, hazel nuts, almonds, pili, pistachio)  – soaking, rinsing and dehydrating your nuts is ideal

1/2 cup fine cut Organic coconut shreds

3 tablespoons hazel nut butter or almond butter

3 tablespoons wholesome sweetener of choice (birch xylitol, Organic Erythritol, raw honey, non-GMO glycerin, raw sun-dried cane crystals (if you’re going to do sugar, do this one), etc.)

1 tablespoon raw organic cacao butter

1 tablespoon Longevity Power Maca Bliss

1 1/2 teaspoons goji berries or Longevity Power Goji Joy

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla bean powder

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1-3 pinches stevia extract powder, to taste

1-3 pinches freshly grated organic nutmeg (grate using a fine micro-plane)

1 pinch organic cinnamon powder (True Ceylon cinnamon is best)

1 pinch grated fresh ginger

OPTIONAL EXTRAS:

2 teaspoons Longevity Power LEVITY for a stress-eliminating light butterscotch flavor

1 -2 teaspoons Longevity Power He Shou Wu for a bliss-inducing dark nutty flavor

 

Hand mold into lightly pressed cookie shapes – don’t over compress as we want our cookies not too dense, with a pleasurable chewy mouth feel.

 

You can start eating them warm at this point, but to make the chocolate stripes, first place the cookies on a plate in the refrigerator until cool. Then drizzle stripes of melted chocolate over the cookies using your favorite raw chocolate recipe. Or decorate with Edible Goddess Chocolate Gold (the herbalized and superfoodized raw chocolate sauce that can act as a chocolate frosting in this recipe!)
