Depleted, moody and aging? Nature has your back! Get ready to learn the top 5 health-revolutionizing reasons to take He Shou Wu!
He Shou Wu (Fallopia multiflora/Polygonum multiflorum) is a root that has been used for at least 1400 years in Asia, is one of the most famous herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist Tonic Herbalism, and is revered for its anti-aging and longevity promoting benefits.
He What Who? How do you pronounce this sacred herb? Don't worry if your tongue slipped, there is no one right way to pronounce it - it depends on your dialect and accent. An approximately pronounced 'Huh Show Woo' will work just finely. Now say that 5 times fast! All silliness aside, the best way to study and memorize the effects (and the names) of herbs is to take them. Being a gastronaut is an educational process.
#5. REJUVENATION!
He Shou Wu is similarly as heart-healthy and massively rejuvenating as red wine's resveratrol, only STRONGER!
Its main active constituents are its stilbene glycosides. Many of these stilbenes are more powerful antioxidants than resveratrol. Protect and repair the body from free radical damage and restore the sense of youth that is your birthright.
#4. GREAT HAIR!
It's commonly known in Asia as the herb to take for naturally reversing gray hair and restoring hair color.
There is no one exact reason why many people report these benefits - He Shou Wu has many nutrients and overall effects that lead to healthier hair follicles, including its trace mineral content (zinc, iron, and many others), ability to help restore the adrenals, rich antioxidant content, and stress reducing capacity.

#3. DNA PROTECTION!
Not only does He Shou Wu contain potent antioxidants, it is also an antioxidant-potentiator.
SOD (superoxide dismutase) is an antioxidant enzyme that blocks your cells and your DNA from mutagenic damage from oxygen, free radicals and radioactive isotopes - all common and pervasive oxidants to which we are each exposed. He Shou Wu has been shown to have SOD-generating capacity. Want a healthy mind and a long living body (I mean looooooooooong living body!), then nourish your body's ability to circulate SOD.
#2. BLISS!
He Shou Wu is nature's ecstasy.
He Shou Wu contains MAO-Is (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) - specifically inhibitors of MAO-B. MAO-B is a naturally occurring enzyme in your body that breaks down neurotransmitters like dopamine (good mood and energy) and phenethylamines (the 'love chemicals'). Since we tend to come from a background of not having quite enough of these happy neurotransmitters, our body may be breaking these essential chemicals down too much for our own good and sustainable energy and happiness. Taking He Shou Wu is an effective strategy at perfecting the way our brain and nervous system (and our experience of reality) work. MAOI's occur in other plants like chocolate, but He Shou Wu is considered the most powerful MAO-B inhibitor that is safe and effective for daily use.
He Shou Wu is also a potent sexual health restoring substance and makes the perfect bliss-inducing aphrodisiac for both men and women.
#1. STRESS RESILIENCE!
He Shou Wu is a true adaptogen. It is uplifting yet calming to both body and mind.
He Shou Wu is neither a stimulant nor a suppressant, but rather it gives your body the restorative energy it needs to combat stress. You feel it right away but it also works on you cumulatively over time. It's a beautiful experience to take an herb like He Shou Wu and feel gently uplifted in the body and calm and clear in the mind. This makes He Shou Wu perfect in the morning, perfect in the evening, perfect any time! In Chinese Medicine it is considered a tonic to 'Yin Jing' and 'Blood' which makes it suitable for just about everybody as a reliable way of stabilizing and thoroughly nourishing the body near daily.
IMPORTANT:
All the effects listed above only apply to well-extracted prepared He Shou Wu.
Raw (unprepared) He Shou Wu is not a true tonic and is considered a laxative and mildly toxic. It has its place in tonic herbalism - usually in small amounts in certain herbal formulas. Be aware of sellers of He Shou Wu who are selling raw He Shou Wu as a tonic - they may not know any better. Here at Longevity Power we only use our Glow Prepared He Shou Wu in our formulas.
Prepared He Shou Wu is prepared by being stewed with black beans (or sometimes yams) at a ratio of about 9 parts He Shou Wu roots and 1 part black beans. Be aware of sellers who may be using genetically modified (GMO) soy beans. Here at Longevity Power we only use NON-GMO black soybeans to prepare our He Shou Wu.
He Shou Wu must be well-extracted. Pouring hot water over roots and briefly steeping does not work (this only works with delicate leafy plants like green tea or gynostemma). Prepared He Shou Wu must be decocted in hot water for hours to unlock the active nutrients from the fiber of the root and dissolve them into the water. Here at Longevity Power we take things to a whole new level and decoct using pressure reiteration to further break open the roots' cell structure and dissolve the active nutrients into sub-boiling (<90*C - better for preserving heat-sensitive nutrients) pure water. We take this water extract and dehydrate it into a malty-tasting water-soluble brown powder. It takes 16 pound of dried Prepared He Shou Wu roots to make 1 pound of our dried extract. Our Prepared He Shou Wu Extract Powder is rich in stilbene glycosides (the resveratrol-like antioxidants described in reason #5 above).
I hope this article brings you clarity and upliftment on your path of health. Please consider taking He Shou Wu as your next healing strategy - add it to your very important life.
